The Lord will keep you from all harm; He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:7-8 NIV

I love this psalm, especially in the NIV version, it best fits what I’m feeling because it speaks to the right now, as well as being a source of comfort and assuredness today. It not only amazes me, but it keeps me truly in awe at how the Lord knows what we need to hear. He reminds us that He is watching and how He moves so meticulously and strategically on our behalf. Most of the time, we have no indication of the danger He has kept us from. Over the years, I’ve heard testimonies from others (and I have many of my own) of how His hand of protection was over a situation or circumstance in their life. Perhaps, you’ve experienced it for yourself and can testify of His goodness and mercy because the scripture says they “shall follow us all the days of our life.” Certainly, that works for me!

This is yet another promise from God that we can stand firmly on and without doubt, knowing that He watches over our coming and our going, not just the right now but forevermore, the psalmist said. This passage starts with David saying that he would lift up his eyes unto the hills from which all of his help comes from. I'm sure at that moment, David was reflecting on a situation or even multiple circumstances that God had delivered him from. Sometimes, we are going to need to take the time to reflect on what He has already done, how He has already delivered and be confidence that He is able to take care of every situation that may arise in our life. This mindset is essential so that we don’t react to the circumstance at hand. Our reaction or our attitude determines our outcome and if we don’t handle that properly, it could end differently. We have to get to a point where we are just going to trust and believe God and know that He is always on our side and will always intervene on our behalf.

Truly, we can do just as David did and look towards heaven for our help, for our help does come from the Lord. What a privilege and an honor to be watched and kept by the King of Kings! Not only is He always watching over us, but He is ready, He is willing, and certainly able to be a very present help when we are in need. He comes with POWER and He come in His strength, and He comes quickly! Sometimes, He will answer before we can even ask (Is 65:24). If you’ve not experienced that, wait and watch and you’ll be amazed!

I’m thankful that God is watching and keeps us from every danger, seen and unseen; I’m grateful that He is always on guard and protecting our very life.

Look to the hills today and be encouraged that the Lord is not slack concerning his promises. It’s wonderful to know that we have a promise for today and forevermore that God is watching over us!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
