Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Is 43:18-19

Every year, from coast to coast we hear the familiar wording across the pulpits that say “the Lord is going to do a new thing!” Every year we get excited and raring to go in anticipation of what the Lord is about to do in our lives, our families, our churches, and our ministries. Now, I’m not saying that He hasn’t done some wonderful and miraculous new things in previous years, because He has for all of us; but this will be a year of transformation, of change, both naturally and spiritually. The way we think and reason; the way we operate and work; and the way we react and respond to the call of God. He is going to bring about an inward change that will set a foundation for total commitment, dedication and devotion to His will and His purpose. There will not and cannot be “business as usual” from this point forward; thus bringing about an outward and tangible change.

In this passage, Isaiah tells Israel that they don’t need to remember the past or the former things that God has done because it cannot be compared to what He was about to do. That it would far surpass anything they had seen Him do on their behalf (He had done quite a bit for them both naturally and spiritually; they really had no clue as to what He was actually speaking of in the prophetic); however, it would spring forth and they would know. It would be some things that only God could have done with no uncertainty or doubt.

If God promised Israel, we can stand on that same promise still holding true for us today (Gal 3:26-29). He is telling us that there is change ahead. Neither remember or give thought to anything from your former situations, circumstances, trials, or tribulations; not even the outcome or the past deliverances. Although they may have been miraculous and glorious in your sight and in the eyes of others, those things will not be worthy of your remembrance and consideration in comparison to what I’m about to do. There are some new things about to take place; NOW, meaning at once, without hesitation, which shall spring forth in such a way that just like Israel, you will know that it is God. He even assures us that He is going to make a way while we are yet in our wilderness and as we make our way through our deserts, there will be a flowing stream of living water to preserve us.

This is what I love about the Lord; He is not slack concerning his promises and we can always take Him at His word. He is committed to our welfare and has already made provisions for us up ahead. There are some things that are happening in the spirit realm that the Lord needs to get His people ready for. We in turn have to be committed to His purpose, dedicated to His call and devoted to His will. The time is now for us to get ready and be prepared because there is change ahead!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
