But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. I John 2:5-6

One question always bugs me when asked, "Are you going to keep your word?" Unless there are circumstances beyond my control, I always keep my word. The people, who know me, know that.... because my word is my bond.

We have been given the awesome responsibility of keeping the Word of God. If we keep His word, then the love of God is made perfect in us. This love made perfect, helps us to understand that through our obedience to the word there is no doubt that the love of God abides in us and we know that we are in Him. Along with this, everything else will fall in line; the right spirit, the right attitude, and the right motives in how we walk and represent this word. The more we know about God, the more we can effectively keep His word. It would stand to reason that we can only keep His word, if we know his word. We get to know His word through reading and meditating; abiding in Him and fellowship with Him. Come to know God and you'll come to know His word … just like the process of any relationship, you have to spend time together; the more time you spend, the more you'll know the person.

Today’s scripture simply tells us, whosoever treasures God’s Word, and observes the instruction and the principles of His Word, truly has the love of God in him and this love makes us complete; it lets us know that we are in Him; because we have this love and keep this Word, then we will find ourselves walking and conducting ourselves as He would. Doesn't that sound doable? Treasuring His Word enough to keep it? Sounds like something we could do easily. Just as I want to be known for keeping my word, I also want to be known as one who is keeping His Word!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
