For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:6-18

Don’t you love it when you finally “get a thing?“ Seriously, like the bulb has been changed to 100 watt and has begun to shine brightly in your brain, so now you can see clearly what’s really going on? As the day’s troubles and situations arise, I am beginning to see how the light is exposing some truths and tactics as they occur. My reaction and my response are quite different from what they were months ago, let alone, a year ago. I praise God for my faith growth in Him.

To embrace means to welcome, eagerly or willingly; to take up, or include as a part of a whole. This is exactly what I’m grasping, that it is necessary not to be moved by the things I see that also come to disturb my harmony because those afflictions are only for a moment. Those things that are working, as Paul says, “together for good to them that love God.” For our troubles, burdens, trials, and tribulations are light, not heavy, not weighing, comparatively to the eternal weight of glory. It simply cannot be compared and we should be focusing on and building our hopes on the eternal things. I know for me now, I am not easily moved or swayed by the things that I see or the things that come to distress me. It is not only how we handle but how we view our afflictions and those things that come to overwhelm us and seemingly appear as giants in our eyes. Nothing we face is bigger than the God we serve (Jer 32:27). We must be able to rise above those things and in time and over time as our faith builds, we’ll see them begin to shrink in size. Remember the movie, "honey, I shrank the kids?" We need to be able to stand up and say, “devil, Jesus shrank the problem!”

We can embrace the moments of our lives by continuing to focus on the eternal things. We won’t be able to avoid the sufferings that come along with this journey and we won’t be able to prevent the fiery darts that the enemy is constantly throwing at us but we do have control over how we view them and how we handle them as we take up the shield of faith, which helps us to quench (put out) those darts. If we focus in on the true facts and not the FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) and remember that God is in control of all things and that He loves and cares for us. He also knows that in our sufferings, it’s for our good, our growth, and His glory. Paul tells us in Romans, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed unto us.”

Welcome and take advantage of the moments that are given to us for our good, embracing them, for they are working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. With this thought, we can endure as a good solider of Jesus Christ, no man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Therefore, endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. For if we suffer, we shall also reign with him (2 Tim2)!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
