Imagine how Ahab felt when Elijah told him there is a sound of abundance of rain coming. Ahab could not have understood fully at the time what was about to happen. However, when he began to see the cloud formation as the darkness and wind came, he knew without a doubt that Elijah’s words were about to come to pass. What a blessing to be able to see God work on behalf of all the people that day. Honestly, for me to be able to encounter another miraculous event would have been and is valuable to my belief system.
How wonderful it is to be able to hear the sound of an abundant rain coming; both naturally and most definitely spiritually, as well as experience a great downpour of blessings showering us because of the prayers that have been sent up before God regarding our circumstance, our condition or our situation. Although, the answer of our fervent prayer requests will not always come as quickly as we would like, even when we trust and believe God. Yet, we must remind ourselves to wait because most often, if it doesn’t come when we want it or when we think it should, panic, doubt or unbelief sets in. We must be earnest in our prayer and not faint and certainly, not give up. We must remain unmovable, while believing God; we must continue to stand on His Word and not waver. We can’t say that we have faith to believe that God will work in our situation and then start to think about how we can fix it ourselves because He has not shown up in our time. God is always a timely God and is working out some things, perhaps and most likely in us, before the rain comes.
And while rainfall sometimes comes in drizzles or slow drops and at other times it comes quickly and falls heavily but Elijah heard a sound of an abundance of rain coming; signifying that the rain coming was about to show up in excess or in overflow for God's people. Elijah prayed and knew without a doubt God would surely deliver as if he could already hear the pouring down of rain before it hit the ground. Elijah believed God. It is the same with us, we've got to believe God, and we have to take Him at His Word regardless of what we see or hear or better yet, what we don't see or hear. The Word says, “NOW FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). We can stand in assurance with that.
I don’t know what you are praying for today but there is a sound of abundance of rain coming. Can you feel it in your bones as the old saying goes? God is getting ready to work on your behalf, He's about to step into your situation; He's about to show Himself faithful and those around you will know that it was Him who has done this thing. There will be no doubt that it was the true and living God that has shown up on your behalf. The sound of an abundance of rain is coming our way... can you hear it?
Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
