And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. I Kings 18:41

Imagine how Ahab felt when Elijah told him there is a sound of abundance of rain coming. Ahab could not have understood fully at the time what was about to happen. However, when he began to see the cloud formation as the darkness and wind came, he knew without a doubt that Elijah’s words were about to come to pass. What a blessing to be able to see God work on behalf of all the people that day. Honestly, for me to be able to encounter another miraculous event would have been and is valuable to my belief system.

How wonderful it is to be able to hear the sound of an abundant rain coming; both naturally and most definitely spiritually, as well as experience a great downpour of blessings showering us because of the prayers that have been sent up before God regarding our circumstance, our condition or our situation. Although, the answer of our fervent prayer requests will not always come as quickly as we would like, even when we trust and believe God. Yet, we must remind ourselves to wait because most often, if it doesn’t come when we want it or when we think it should, panic, doubt or unbelief sets in. We must be earnest in our prayer and not faint and certainly, not give up. We must remain unmovable, while believing God; we must continue to stand on His Word and not waver. We can’t say that we have faith to believe that God will work in our situation and then start to think about how we can fix it ourselves because He has not shown up in our time. God is always a timely God and is working out some things, perhaps and most likely in us, before the rain comes.

And while rainfall sometimes comes in drizzles or slow drops and at other times it comes quickly and falls heavily but Elijah heard a sound of an abundance of rain coming; signifying that the rain coming was about to show up in excess or in overflow for God's people. Elijah prayed and knew without a doubt God would surely deliver as if he could already hear the pouring down of rain before it hit the ground. Elijah believed God. It is the same with us, we've got to believe God, and we have to take Him at His Word regardless of what we see or hear or better yet, what we don't see or hear. The Word says, “NOW FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). We can stand in assurance with that.

I don’t know what you are praying for today but there is a sound of abundance of rain coming. Can you feel it in your bones as the old saying goes? God is getting ready to work on your behalf, He's about to step into your situation; He's about to show Himself faithful and those around you will know that it was Him who has done this thing. There will be no doubt that it was the true and living God that has shown up on your behalf. The sound of an abundance of rain is coming our way... can you hear it?
Until the morning, be blessed,

Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Let your hands be strong, you who are listening in these days to these words from the mouth of the prophets, those who spoke in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, to the end that the temple might be built…”  Zechariah 8:9

“He laid the foundation, opened up the way, what more can He do?” The seasoned saints will remember that song from days of old. Sadly, we don’t sing those songs much anymore; the songs were simple, yet powerful and gave us strength to keep going, motivating us to run on. The words let us know that God has already laid the foundation and given us all we need to build on. There’s not much more that He can do and the rest is up to us. It’s a choice we make, a decision to continue on because our hope and future lies in Him. We, who desire to make a difference according to Jude, should be building up ourselves on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keeping ourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

In the passage today, Zechariah is encouraging the children of Israel to complete their unfinished responsibility in the rebuilding of the temple of God. He doesn’t rebuke or speak harshly to them but gently encourages them on how important it is that the temple is completed. He tells them that their future blessings were contingent or dependent upon their present obedience to God’s instructions. Only then would the promised restoration and consolation come. This also stands true for us today because God’s word has not changed and is applicable to our lives. We too, have been given the opportunity to build on the foundation that is Jesus Christ (I Cor 3:9-14).

We are a work in progress; working on a building; the temple of God, which is our body (II Cor 6:16-18). Definitely, this requires preparation with diligence and dedication, which is the key in the building of it. This comes about by prayer, fasting, studying and meditating on the word of God. We should be doers and not just hearers of the word as well (James 1:22). Looking and listening to the voice of God who is the author and the finisher of our faith. He is concerned about us as we build. He gently encourages us and reminds us how important it is to build for our future, just like the children of Israel, because our blessings depend on our obedience. God tell us, if we are listening, when He wants us to move and how; He directs our path (Prov 3:5-6). He provides the strength and support we need (Ps 46). Truly, Father knows best.

We are not just working on a building but a future in Christ and this should be our motivation to build. And honestly, there is none other for which we could build. It's important that we continue the work that has He has begun in us. Christ has come and laid the foundation and all we have to do is build wisely which comes from listening attentively to the Master Builder.

Regardless of what comes to try to hinder, distract or prevent us from building, don't stop, keep building. Press on and God will bring comfort in the midst of your building. The Lord is saying, “hear what I am saying in these days, stay on course, stay focused, and be confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it and complete it (Phi 1:6). He has laid the foundation, so keep building because the rewards are great!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 Cor 4:5-7, 10

This past week has been extraordinary and beyond measure; one full of birthday celebrations and love from so many directions. However, there was a love gift in particular that I received and it was the best gift a girl could ask for. The Lord dropped some additional knowledge in my spirit that you can’t get on a natural level. He gave me the gift of insight; a higher level of divine learning. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving! Priceless.

I also begin to reflect on how God has been blessing me with His word over the past couple of months and how valuable the information has been to me personally ,as well as collectively for the body of Christ. What He’s been giving me and revealing to me has catapulted me into another realm. Not to sound deep but you can’t stay in the same place when God has supped with you. So, while spending time in His word and listening, I am thoroughly convinced that we have to study to be better listeners than talkers, because listening is a learned attribute. He confirmed this to me while reading this week. I came across the Latin term "lectio divina" which means divine reading. It’s a method of reading that involves listening to the heart. It’s also an ancient tradition that the Hebraic called Shema which Involves reading passages with specific pauses and concentration in certain areas of the scriptures. You must read slowly, over and over; reflecting on each word and each phrase while paying attention to the impact the words have on the heart. I love that because I have experienced this over the years without knowing this information.

It made me think about Mary of Bethany, who stayed at the feet of Jesus listening; mesmerized by everything He spoke. She was at His feet at every given opportunity and clung to His every word, His wisdom, and His teaching. This is what I've been doing, staying at the feet of Jesus. The Lord is seeking those who desire to sit at His feet and listen. No, we don’t have Jesus here physically with us but we can spend time in His presence and we still have His word. The word tells us, “He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying...” (Rev 2:7). Listen to the Spirit of God or how will we be able to fully understand the treasure that we possess in this earthen vessel? This valuable and powerful and precious gift. Not every one will except it but we've been given the opportunity to carry it; to carry life. This light of the knowledge of God’s glory; wisdom and secrets (Deut 29:29), His insight that enlightens, along with His Spirit all wrapped up and given to us to deposit where needed. And it’s not just for us – but to be given out freely.

We are chosen to carry this great treasure, this light of God’s glory and grace, that has been put into these earthen vessels with this all surpassing power of the gospel to enlighten the mind, to convince the conscience of man, to convert the soul, and to rejoice the heart. Our obligation to the world is to advance the kingdom and make known Jesus because He is the only Saviour of men. We, the ministers of this great gospel, were designed to be the weaker vessels, yet stronger only because of His power so that the treasure we carry would be valued more. When we know who we are and whose we are, we begin to understand the value of what we possess. We then become the light that shines to those who are lost because we carry around in this body the life they need.

I absolutely love this letter written by Paul to the Corinthians. I’ve read it many times over the years, quoted it, spoke on it but it has never resonated “in” me like has this past week. He let them know that you have this treasure and an obligation to the ministry because it is the power for the effectual working of the kingdom. This treasure, this valuable, powerful and precious gift given to us in these earthen vessels, so that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. And that we always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made manifest in our body. We carry life.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen. Psalms 23:4-6

Last year, I committed to a daily confession of the 23rd Psalm. What a blessing it is to repeat those words and to be reminded that the Lord is my shepherd and He not only watches over me but protects me, keeps me, and He comforts me. However, sometimes, we are taken aback by situations when we are attacked by the enemy unexpectantly and it throws us off (yes, even for us seasoned folks). Today, these verses were magnified in my spirit after having a conversation with the Lord this morning. Sometimes, illumination is necessary in order to be reminded of whose we are, especially when the enemy rears his ugly head and although we will walk through the valley at times, we don't have to fear evil because He is always with us to calm and comfort us even in the midst of adversity.

As of late, I have been in excitement mode for awhile because He has poured in so much into a short amount of time; busy trying to process and decipher, deprogram and reprogram myself in my thinking, in my speaking and in my actions. My spirit has been rejoicing over the word and my mind feels like it's busting loose at the seams from information overload. Yet, I thrive well in this mode. Naturally, the rest of me wants to run, jump, shout and scream, or simply, just dance awhile! Did I get some exciting news in regards to winning a trip, a new car, etc. No, something better... I have been simply receiving rich words; a word that speaks to MY right now; a word that didn't change my physical locality or my current situation or circumstance (although I'm waiting for the manifestation of it), yet, it changed my sight, changed my attitude, and most importantly, it changed my pattern of thought. The enemy is never happy about us coming into the knowledge or the revelation of God's word that will bring about a change, not only in your life but in the lives of others.

We have to be aware that when the enemy thinks we are too happy or too excited, or we are trying to apply the knowledge we have learned, he will make it his mission to trip you up, discourage you and throw you off track. He will use anybody and anything to do just that. However, we must stay the course and not allow ourselves to get sucked into his trap. The word tells us that we are not ignorant to his devices, his schemes, or his tricks (2 Cor 2:11). Now, this doesn't mean he is going to stop trying because he is going to find other ways, other people, and other avenues to accomplish his mission. So, we have to recognize it for what it is. I thank God for the amazing, comforting power through His word, and specifically through this psalm. As I repeated these particular verses spoke loudly today: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Often, we grapple with the word and what it says, how it speaks, when it speaks or what it speaks to because of lack of insight or understanding. But this word is abundantly clear especially this phrase, "surely goodness and mercy will follow you" because He is with us always. What an assurance from God! Letting us know that no matter the valley, no matter what you face, no matter the opposition or the fiery darts that come to wound you, I've got you. And when God gives revelation regarding a thing, it is the time to hear it in the way that it has been illuminated. I'm just grateful that I serve a God who loves me and is always concerned about me and it's comforting to know that He's always got my back!

Until the morning, be blessed,

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. John 17:20-23

“We are one” is a phrase that has been lingering in my spirit for awhile and how imperative it is for us as a body of believers to understand that this is the very basis of what’s needed in order to work effectively for the kingdom. We cannot function properly as a body without it. Unity, truth, and excellence are needed as we move forward in the work of the Lord.

A few years ago, I heard a message that has taken up root in me: "The Synergy that Advances the Kingdom.” Sometimes, a rich word will come and grab your very being and you cannot dismiss it. You begin to marinate in it and allow it to sink deep into your spirit until it takes hold. The word, synergy is the operative word in that message. The word derives from the Greek words sunergiā and from sunergos, meaning cooperation and working together. It also translates as "the interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects." Meaning that our individual efforts are not to be compared to what our combined efforts can accomplish! We were meant to be as one; one body having one mind, unified for one purpose (1 Cor 12:12). Honestly, if we can’t work together, cooperate with one another as a cohesive body within the church as intended, how do we expect to convince nonbelievers of the joy and benefits of this lifestyle? Paul spoke to the Corinthians in regards to not bringing offence in any way so that the ministry is not blamed (2 Cor 6:1-10).

We can take our minds back to Genesis and foundations of the world and think about how God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost worked together as one and in perfect harmony. Perhaps God could have done it all and was more than capable to effectively do it by Himself, but He didn't. They worked together and cooperated as one. What a perfect example for us to follow. Jesus said "the glory that thou has given me Father, I have given to them so that they may be made "perfect" or complete as one." He has given us all that’s needed in order for us to work and be better together for the advancing of the Kingdom. Another example to remember is how Jesus brought together twelve very different individuals to make up the disciples, each with his own personality, trade or craft, talents and gift(s) to collectively work together with one goal in mind to effectively advance the Kingdom… now that is synergy!

It is the Lord’s desire, as well as His plan for us to cooperate and work together as one - so that our combined forces have a greater effect, a greater impact in the work of the ministry. We cannot work one without the other, because it will not be as effective or get the desired or intended results, not from a human or a spiritual aspect. From this scripture today or even from the beginning according to God's plan, you can see that it was not envisioned for us to work alone. Working together as one, others will see and know that we are His disciples. Let's make a conscious effort to effectively advance the Kingdom together, that should our only goal, also having that synergy, cooperating and working together towards one purpose because we are one!

Until the morning, be blessed,

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Unfortunately, as I self-disclose today, I realized that I have been emotionally off balanced. in so many directions. Honestly, I've been feeling some kind of way for quite some time and it's not always expedient for me to share my thoughts.  Today, I need to be real, as well as candid in order to continue to move forward freely. And perhaps,  I can help someone who might be struggling with the same issue.

This past weekend in particular, including the last couple of weeks, I have come to some unpleasant awakenings (you know, the times when you realize the light just came on).  It’s not that I wasn’t aware but it was as if the light was shining so brightly that it could not be ignored. The Lord certainly has a way of getting our attention when we aren’t listening as attentively as we should. I’m not sure how many would readily admit that, however, I do know that the truth shall set you free and this day I intend to be free and stay free.

As God began speaking His Word through others more frequently, I realized that I had allowed myself to sink into something that was not conducive to my lifestyle. I had let emotional strongholds take hold and literally rule my thoughts and actions. I received this "light moment" from an event I attended and when the speaker said, “emotional strongholds impair (weaken or damage) our ability to operate; rob us of our joy and allows the enemy to have a foothold on our lives.”  This in turn, affects our behavior, changes our demeanor and alters our attitudes. Like the children of Israel, I found myself murmuring and complaining about everything and just going through the motions of life which is not me. Because we are in the world, we deal with so much on a daily basis and so life happens. There are circumstances, situations, events, and people that can and will cause or wreak havoc in our lives.  Some, we can prevent and some, we simply cannot. It affects our emotions, our attitudes, our thoughts, and our actions and it will overtake us, if we allow it.

Undoubtedly, I can say that I am one who has never cared about what others say because I love who I am (first rule: love and know thyself) and I’m grateful for the person that God has called me to be. Even while in my youth, I was very confident and secure, yet, I have always experienced this type of negativity most of my life when others, especially from those closest to me would try and sabotage or defame character or slander your name. However, I realized long ago that not everyone (i.e., your sisterfriends, your girls or your ace boon) is in your corner or will ever be happy about who you are or what God is doing in your life even though, they willingly express, "I'm here for you." Please understand that some have a different agenda or perhaps dealing with their own “stuff or baggage” that has nothing to do with you. Oftentimes, we will allow the words and the actions of others to discourage us and we allow it sink into our spirit. They say misery loves company and a lot of times if we are not careful, the negativity will attach itself to us and before you know it, things have crept in unaware and set up house.  These in particular have had a toll on my emotions, along with the other circumstances and situations of life that I’m dealing with. Things had become overwhelming and I unknowingly, allowed it to affect me over time. This weekend, I had to come to myself, remembering who I am and do some house cleaning moment!

This scripture was in my spirit because it is imperative to bring every thought into captivity. We cannot allow the enemy (anyone or anything) to take up room and cause us to be unbalanced emotionally. I love what Paul tells the Corinthians: “But I beseech you that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of forces. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raises up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”  Paul reminds us that we must remember to carry this in our spirit as if it is the air we breathe to maintain our well-being, mind, body and soul.

Now, I have not in the business of allowing the enemy in any form to come in and attach itself to me and cause me to step outside the will of God or the ark of safety and I am not about to start. So I put the devil on notice today that I am not the one. I bless God for knowing that I am blood bought, fire baptized and powerful through the spirit of God that dwells in me. While also reminding myself that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and not a force to be reckoned with. I have been called to do a work that He purposed for “me” to do – and remembering that He is counting on me to do just that. There are no weapons that are formed against me that will or can prosper! No matter what the circumstances or the situations that arise in our lives, no matter how things look, no matter how things feel, no matter the hindrances or the bumps in the road on this journey, we must hold on to that “mustard seed” of faith and know that all things work together for good to those who love God, and to those who are the called according to His purpose.

We must keep our minds and our thoughts stayed on the Lord. There cannot be any fainting, even though it's easy to get discouraged if you take the time to stop, look, listen and then decide that maybe it’s easier to give up, give in, hide in a corner or just check out emotionally. Trust me, this is not an option. We cannot get weary in our well doing nor allow the enemy to have dominion over our actions and especially our thoughts. We must lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets, affects, troubles, or overwhelms us (Heb 12:1). I encourage you as I encourage myself today to be steadfast and stand strong; continue to be unmovable, unyielding, and firm; always flourishing, and thriving in the work of the Lord and bringing every thought into captivity that rises up against it!

Until the morning, be blessed,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
I Peter 1:5-7

I was thinking this morning on how we are found saying that we believe, have faith and trust God in all things. But honestly, do we really or are they just words that sound good to our ears to help us cope from day to day. We affirm our faith by saying He's a healer, a keeper, a provider, or a comforter… I could list more but you know the phrases we commonly and loosely use when we testify of God’s goodness and keeping power in our lives. Truth of the matter is those words we speak are going to be tried by fire whether you believe or know it in order to reveal to us that He is indeed all of those mentioned and more. Afterwards, you will have a testament as to the things that God can do.

We know when the temperature is turned up, the fire is indeed hot, yet necessary to burn off the dross and the mucky muck that will eventually reveal the beauty of gold from it’s unprocessed natural state. However, as precious as gold is, the word says that our faith is far more precious and for us, it is also a process. Yes, we are going to have trials and tribulations that will come to test and try us. We must remember they do come to make us into the beautiful vessel God has called us to be. There is always “stuff” that needs to burn off in order to reveal the vessel that God is looking for. How will you know what you are made of if you have not been though some fire?  Peter tells us that there is a great inheritance, a great reward that awaits those who are kept by the power through faith, so that we can be found unto praise, honor and glory of God and especially for the appearing of Jesus at His return.

We are living in a time where we are going to need to know that we are able to stand firm in the power of our faith. We should also know that not only can we stand strong on God’s word but in whatever circumstance or situation that we're in until we have come out because of that power.

In this walk, we have to remember to keep the main thing the main thing – not getting distracted by what we see or what we are experiencing in the world but staying focused on what God is trying to do in us and through us...  it’s imperative to our salvation. And though our faith will be on fire (more often than not), please know that it is for the making of us into that beautiful vessel not only for our good but for His glory!
Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde

Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. I Chronicles 16:8-12

In the wee hours of the morning I woke up and found myself singing, “I’m chasing after you, no matter what I have to do, ‘cause I need you more and more.” This is exactly what I’m feeling in my spirit as well… like I need to be in pursuit of the Lord even moreso than ever before, as well as doing all I possibly can to get to Him. Not that He’s afar off because His presence is always with me and in Him I live, move, and have my being (Acts 17:27-28). However, I also speak in terms of pursuing the things of God, i.e., His word, His will, His wisdom, His ways for my life.
David penned this song that was to be sung while moving the ark of the covenant into the tent. These are words that would echo throughout time. I love every word because it expresses what I would say even today. I will give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name and make known his deeds among the people. I will sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, and talk of all the wondrous works He’s done for me. Glorying in all that is God for He is my all in all. Thinking about those in particular makes my heart rejoice because it keeps me in pursuit of the Lord; seeking His face and His strength constantly. I have been on this path for many years. I cannot count the number of times that I have turned to the psalms to help me restore my faith and get back on track mentally. We have to be as David was and remember that we will have to encourage ourselves sometimes. David said let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek his face continually.
With that being said why would we not chase after Him, especially when we think about all that He has done for us, faithfully and consistently. The Lord is always there for us regardless as to whether or not we believe it or feel it. it is not about a feeling and this is where our faith is tested. The word says, but without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6); diligently seeking, diligently in pursuit of Him with all our heart and with all our soul (Deut 4:29).
Let me encourage you today by saying, wherever you are on your journey, continue on your path. Don’t allow the obstacles or the bumps in the road to hinder your progress. If you fall down, get up, dust off and keep on moving, keep on pursuing.
Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde

For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, You came down, and the mountains trembled before you. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. Isaiah 64:3-5 NIV

I often think about how God has made provisions and how many amazing things He’s done that have astounded me and yet, it cannot be compared to what He’s said He has prepared for me. Jeremiah 29:11 says it best, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” I get excited when I envision His glory on my life!

From an ordinary man it would be said, “but Cynde, given your current circumstances, how can you be excited about the anticipation of what you wait for and what God has promised you? “Well, my friend, it’s simple, I believe God and I know that He is not slack concerning those things He has promised and He is not a man that He should lie.” So, therein lies my faith and my hope; for my faith is the substance of things hoped for and definitely the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1). God is my only source; He knows and sees even when I don't and I believe it and therefore, I will wait for the Lord.

The Spirit of God is the source of our sight, the revealer of God’s truth and His will for our lives presently and in our future. It's impossible to see or understand these hidden truths unless we have the Spirit of God in us. Without it, we can only see or understand in the natural, which honestly amounts to nothing. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him (1 Cor 2:10-14)? However, when we are filled with the precious Spirit of God, we begin to see spiritually; then we can truly know and understand who we are and begin to walk in the direction and the purpose of our lives. With the Spirit of the Lord things begin to make sense even when they don’t make sense (I know that sounds crazy) and because of the connection, we get it, especially, when we come to the realization that everything we experience is part of the making of us and that we are an important part of a much bigger plan.

God's mercy, grace and His favor in my life never cease to amaze me. I am in awe many times as I experience God’s faithfulness. And no, I am not sitting around doing nothing while I wait because God will not act on our behalf if we are not active in the things of God, regardless of our circumstances. We must still live this life righteously; stay in right standing with the Lord, pray, fast, and continue the work that He has purposed for us to do. We can’t be slack or slothful in the process of our making. My happiness, my joy, my hope is connected to what God has designed for me; what He has prepared and what He is preparing for me in order to be equipped to go forth for kingdom work.

We do God and ourselves an injustice, when we don’t allow the Spirit of God to make visible those things that He wants us to know in order to live in the moment. Catch the vision for what is happening right now. Let God work His plan for our lives His way. Let’s be aware of the work He is doing in us and not go ahead of Him to try and see or figure out what He is doing. For without Him, it would be impossible for us to comprehend these things. It’s so wonderful to know that He desires for us to know the things, but we can only know them and see them by His Spirit.

Honestly, I can’t speak for you but I am grateful for God being the only source of my life!

Until the morning, be blessed,

I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet. For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.  Psalm 18:34-39

After a titillating message, there was a phrase that stayed with me throughout the day. It caused me to think seriously about the Goliaths in my life that need a swift smooth stone because I have allowed them to hinder me from moving forward in some areas. It was such an “aha” moment and I realized that I am bigger than any Goliath because it is the Lord who and gives me the strength and the power to go up against my enemy.

In the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), David was sent by his father to check on his brothers and bring food. While he was there, he heard the giant Goliath spewing threats and David saw that the men were afraid and paralyzed with fear by him. I can imagine David looking around and saying what is wrong with you before he said to them, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of living God? If you’re too scared then I will fight Goliath.” Now, David was not even dressed for battle in the natural sense; he was dressed in his shepherd’s clothes, carrying his sling and a pouch that had five smooth stones. Even when offered, he didn’t want all of the armor that came with being on the battlefield; he wanted to use his weapon of choice, the one that he was comfortable with, the one that he was familiar with using. David had skills with that sling! I heard the preacher say, you have to use the weapon that works best for you to go after your Goliath (i,e., prayer, fasting, seeking God; Mark 9:28-29). And while Goliath was yelling, David simply said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel … and as Goliath moved in for the kill, David slung one stone ...

Even though all of the men, including his brothers were afraid of Goliath, David faced him fearless and with confidence knowing the God he served would prevail. God wants us to move in that same vein when it comes to our Goliaths. He wants us free from worry, free from stress and free from the fears of this world. We have to keep our minds as David, knowing the God of our salvation is with us no matter what giants we are facing. Fear will cripple, paralyze and keep us from developing and not just in our spiritual walk but in our natural lives as well. Fear keeps us from moving forward. The scripture tells us that He did not give us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. We must stand firm and not be afraid and have the faith and trust that David possessed.  He knew that no man could come against the all powerful and mighty God. Simply, if God is for us, who or what can be against us. Absolutely, nothing can stand against His power. Look at Goliath, speaking loudly and spurting nonsense because of his size just to intimidate, frighten, and terrorize. However, look where that got him. Our Goliaths appear to be grand in size, while talking loudly and wreaking havoc whenever they can to incite fear in efforts to keep us immobilized. Like Saul and his army, scared to move forward and take on the enemy.

As I encourage you with this story, I encourage myself as well.  Let’s go full speed ahead and not run in the opposite direction or allow fear to keep us bound. Let’s begin to face our Goliaths (problems, circumstances, situations) with faith and trust in the God who said He would fight for us and with us!

Until the morning, be blessed!

Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work. Nehemiah 2:11-18

“We’re Looking for a Few Good Men” is the campaign slogan to get recruits to come in and join ranks with the Marines. And if that line doesn’t prompt you, they might get you with their infamous tag line, “The few and the proud, the Marines!”

The armed services, whether it be the Marines, Army, Navy, or Air Force are required to have intense training in order to become the men and women needed to be equipped for battle and made ready to become one force against the enemy. I am very impressed with the unity of the armed forces; the comradeship and the cohesiveness of these individual units; however, they are all one in their thinking, one in their motives, one in their strategy, and one in their mission. They embody the motto: once a soldier – always a soldier. And even though there are differences in administration, each soldier is working together with one purpose, one mind and on one accord. Naturally, as the people of God, we talk about how we are soldiers in the army of the Lord, Just like the natural soldier, there must be also a willingness to go into intense training to be equipped and made ready for battle. God is in need of some special forces to represent the front line because this is serious spiritual warfare. He is looking for people who are willing to work together, fully equipped to fight against the enemy (Eph 6:11-12).

In our passage, Nehemiah heard the wall of Jerusalem was broken down, dilapidated and the gates had burned with fire. It caused him to sit down and weep, and he mourned for days. Then he fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven on how to proceed for His people (Neh 1:4). Because of his concern for Jerusalem and its people, it was in his heart to take action. He took a few good men with him to assess the wall and when he realized what was needed he gathered the people together to let them know what he had observed. Because the wall was in such bad shape, broken down and burned, it was an open door for all kinds of things to creep into the city because there wasn’t any protection against the outside forces. With that being said, the people said let us rise up and rebuild the wall. The scripture said, and they strengthened their hands for this good work. Just like Nehemiah, God is looking for a few good men with that mindset; men and women who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

Nehemiah had the help of the people because they were willing to work together to get the job done. Although, they had to deal with the outside opposition, it wasn’t as devastating as the inside opposition among them. There will always be some form of hindrance but with determination and a mind to let nothing stop you , you can move forward in the purpose of God. The people of Jerusalem continued on in their work despite it all and the wall was completed in less than two months. Wouldn’t it be nice if we, as the people of God, the recruits of His army would do the same as the people of Jerusalem? Being as one; willing to work together with one purpose, one mind and be on one accord for one mission to save the city? We see the people of the world are badly in need of repair; there is moral decay and neglect and in a dilapidated state; they are hurting, broken, and in bondage and in need of hope. Are we willing to strengthen our hands to do the good work that God has called for us to do. Will we be that beacon of hope to a dying world? Isn’t that our mission as a soldier in this army?

I heard this song yesterday that reminded me of my childhood and was so befitting. “We are soldiers in the army, we have to fight, although we have to cry. We have to hold up the bloodstained banner, we have to hold it up until we die.”

God is just looking for a few good men ...

To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O Lord my God. "When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Jonah 2:6-9

When I look back over my life and the events thereof, it’s not hard to see the Lord’s hand in all that has transpired. His love, His mercy and His grace has played an intricate part throughout. When I think about where I could have been or where I should have been, all I can do is thank Him for pulling me up and out of the muck and miry of what was my life. Especially, in those times when I did not go and do as He had commanded. Yet, He still kept me in spite of myself. I praise Him for who He is – not for what He can do for me and realizing that in everything, I must give thanks.

Such is the story of Jonah and the reason as to why he landed himself inside the belly of the great fish. The Lord had given Jonah specific directions; he wanted him to give a word of repentance to the people and what He wanted him to do. However, Jonah decided that he'll just go in the opposite direction and not do as instructed because he didn't think the people deserved the Lord's mercy. If you read in chapter 1 and 2, you'll see that it didn't go so well for Jonah and finds himself swallowed up in order to give him time to think about what he'd done. The Lord's loving hand of protection was with Jonah, as it is with us, showing His covering even when we are sometimes disobedient. It also shows how He preserves us for purpose and for His will to be done.

What a loving and merciful God we serve, unlike idols, man or Jonah, He is full of compassion, mercy and grace. He is concerned about our wellbeing. He is patient and shows longsuffering towards us when we don't deserve it. It does not matter what we think because we don’t know the reasons as to why God does what He wants for others, but we have to remember that we too were in a state at one time when the Lord pulled us out of whatever mess we were in. We should be voicing our thanksgiving as opposed to our unwillingness to share the wonderful things that the Lord has done for us.

Like Jonah, there is a lesson in this story for us all. Jonah said "When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord and my prayer came in unto thee." I would paraphrase by saying,  "when I was calm and I came to myself, I remembered the Lord is in control of all things, and I started to pray and the Lord heard me!" Jonah began to let God know just how thankful he was and vowed that he would continue in the way of thanksgiving.

Personally, I'm not interested in being cast out of my comfort zone and into the belly of circumstances because of my disobedience. I vow to keep a word of praise no matter what; whether I understand the what or why the Lord is asking me to do a thing and it doesn't matter whether I agree with it or not. I will be giving him thanks in all things, the good, the bad, and the indifferent. With all that the Lord does for us, we should have a continual voice of thanksgiving!

Until the morning, be blessed,

For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:16b-17

I am committed to not only reading and studying the word, but listening to different preachers via CDs or videos. It’s nothing like hearing a rich and inspiring word that speaks to your right now situations and circumstances to give you a new perspective and help bring you up and out of whatever we are minds have been muddling in and over (jobs, children, finances, sickness, etc.). It aids in helping not only to enlighten but to remind us of who we are and who we serve and WHO is in control. The word is alive, full of energy and vigor and it’s always fresh. I have heard some good word over the past couple of days that really encouraged my heart and put a little extra pep in my step, more stride in my glide, and some additional moves in my Holy Ghost groove!

We must learn throughout our walk that we must guard our hearts and minds and not allow the cares and the woes of the world infiltrate our process of thinking. He will not only wreak havoc if we allow him but will in turn have you convinced to do or say some things and before you know it, you’ve done it. If we could ask those who have committed heinous crimes or committed suicide, they would tell you that it all began with a thought. The scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5, to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. We have to do this continually because the enemy is always presenting us with something; he will take advantage of any and every situation and use anyone that will let him, shut him down at all cost.

If we stay in the word of God and constantly feed our spirit by hearing it, whether by reading or by listening, this is what will keep us in spite of all else going on in and around us. The word speaks to all things that concern us; hearing the word strengthens our faith and thus and gives hope to continue on. Henry said it best, “the beginning, progress, and strength of faith is by hearing. But it is only hearing the word, as the word of God that will strengthen faith. So, whose report will you believe? I can tell you I’m going to believe the report of the Lord! If God’s word says it, then that settles it for me.

Until the morning, be blessed,

The Mantle of Elijah
And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, where is the Lord God of Elijah? II Kings 2:9-14

When the Lord first gave me this thought, I knew the story but had not done any research on the subject. As destiny would have it, I received a prophetic word that would cause me find information to support it. This is a very familiar passage and most of us know the story of Elijah, the prophet, being caught up in a whirlwind in a chariot of fire and horses. When he is lifted up toward heaven, he drops his mantle. After reading the story again, I became so intrigued that I wanted to know more details about his life. It led me to dig deeper and read more. There are certain historic events that we associate with Elijah but I was fascinated and knew there had to be so much more to his story. If you are not familiar with his journey, it makes for a good read and honestly, second to none in drama. After reading, I concluded that Elijah had a certain quality of mystery about him. His life was interesting and his characteristics could be described in several words like bold, direct, and authoritative to name a few. The things he did over the course of his ministry showed that He truly was a man who trusted, believed, and walked in the power and the authority of God. He stood firm that His God was the one and only true God and proved it.

In this passage of scripture, Elijah is being taken up by a whirlwind on a chariot of fire and his successor, Elisha has picked up the dropped mantle. The mantle automatically marked a man as a prophet, or a spokesman for God and this mantle was a symbol of Elijah's power as well as, his authority as a prophet. It is also known as a symbol of sacrifice and commitment. Before Elijah’s departure, it had already been established and purposed by God that Elisha would succeed him. He had been anointed to take over; although, it is hard to see by Elisha's response here in the scripture. Elijah had been being with him daily for years as a father, a teacher, and a confidant and watching him ascend into the heavens could not have been easy. Elijah passing on the mantle
symbolizes the passing of prophetic authority which signifies that he was literally transferring his prophetic ministry to his student, Elisha, the man chosen and anointed by God to succeed in his stead.

Jesus has done the same; He has spiritually transferred that mantle to us, his heirs, to carry on in His stead until He returns. No, we don't have a physical mantle to speak of, but the Spirit of God is our mantle, our source of power, our source of authority, and our source of strength for what He has purposed for us. Oftentimes, the Lord calls us to do more than we think we can or are able to do, but He always supplies us with the strength and equips us for kingdom work. He
is looking for someone to pick up the mantle with power and authority. He needs someone with passion and fervor; someone with the same obedience, sacrifice and commitment of an Elijah and an Elisha; someone who is bold and confident that will walk in authority; someone will speak, live, and walk in truth, as well as teach the truth with compassion, grace, and love.

In my mind, I saw Elijah tossing the mantle down to Elisha, giving him that look and saying, "It's now your turn to carry on in my stead, go and do greater works." As he caught it, he wrapped it around himself in obedience and carried the mantle of Elijah to complete the mission that the Lord would give him. Let's be encouraged and inspired to do the same.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2

As I was meditating, clearly I heard there is not only a need for the people of God to be transformed but there is urgency for a total transformation. And not just of the mind, body and soul, but in every aspect of our lives that does not align itself with the will of God. Paul’s message in this passage to the Romans begins with him asking earnestly for them to present themselves wholly to God and not try to fit in with the world but transform your lives by remembering what you’ve been taught because a life of righteousness is a life to be lived. Without a doubt, the enemy would have us to believe that we are right where we need to be, doing what we need to do and still be in the will of God. He is good at intentionally misleading and misinforming, because that's his job, to deceive.

When we look at the word transformation, it simply means a complete change. Although there are several definitions we could consider; a conversion in nature, in condition; to convert, which means to change from one use, function, or purpose to another and adapt to a new or different purpose. This brought another scripture to mind, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Cor 5:7). This tells us that God wants a complete and total conversion because we cannot represent Him as Christians or children of the Most High God and still live our same old man life with our same old ways. We can't have it our way or have our own agendas and do it in the name of Jesus. Where is the change? If we are to conform to this walk, then all the old ways must die (Eph 4:22-24).

Of course, we will be constantly bombarded with the enticements of the world, and the enemy will try to make us believe that we can still have the best of both worlds. Not so. Yes, we must live, work and do business in it, but it cannot be our way of life any longer but a life of righteousness... but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: (Phil 3:13-15). We must be a true testament to who we profess to be, especially if we say we love God (read reference: I John 2:4-6, 15-16). How do I know, because it reflects in our actions, our reactions, and in our attitudes. The Word requires us to do a self evaluation and examination daily to see if we are where we need to be; presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, keeping it holy and pleasing to God, because this is the least we can do in our service to the Lord. Renewing our minds continuously so we exemplify what is good and acceptable, and the perfect will of God.

The Lord wants transformed lives; lives that reflect Him. We must represent Him at all times and not just on Sunday in the presence of the church. Trust me, God is not fooled, for He knows all and He sees all and is yet, merciful.  It's time to take a hard look to see where we are falling short of the glory of God and make an honest effort to work on getting a total and complete transformation today! You'll love the new look!

Until the morning, be blessed,

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.  II Cor 2:14-15 ESV

What excites me is hearing the words “sweet fragrance or the aroma of Christ.” This passage always reminds me of a moment in time when the Lord visited me one cold and early morning in October. I was house sitting and prior to sleeping; I had been reading, praying and talking to the Lord regarding my life, my situation and circumstances. I don’t remember when the praying stopped and sleeping began when I was awakened at 4 am.

It was still dark outside and as I lifted my head and propped up on my elbows, a slight gush of wind brushed across my face. What followed that wind was the most beautiful fragrance I had ever experienced (I am a lover of scents and fragrances) and it lingered momentarily and then it was gone. Needless to say, I was left in total amazement and somewhat unnerved.  I jumped up, cut on the light and immediately went to check the windows which of course were shut and locked. It would have been impossible for a wind to come through and brush my face on the opposite side of the room, not to mention where such a beautiful fragrance that accompanied it might have come from.

As I quickly began to search for scriptures that dealt with fragrances or aromas (and there were many); it was this scripture the Lord confirmed in me that morning. I knew at that moment the Lord heard me and His sweet presence had come to let me know that He was there. It assured me; He had witnessed my devotion and consecration and was well pleased. He was showing me that my laboring and sacrifice had not gone unnoticed. The Lord was letting me know that He said that we are as a sweet fragrance to Him because of our obedience and sacrifice and that He was well pleased and all that concerned me would be perfected. How encouraging is this as a believer? It is also an awesome way to be awakened and be assured by the Lord Himself that I am with you and the victory was mine! Just stay the course because He was working it out for my good.

This is exactly what was conveyed to my spirit this morning as I was delightfully reminded that He loves me and is concerned about every aspect of my life, no matter how small or how large; He is always there. The Lord let me know with out a shadow of a doubt that He still hears my cries and He has not left me. Sometimes we don’t hear from Him as we think or would like, but then He will show up in some form or fashion to let us know He is always with us and will awe us with His presence!

Let’s strive to be that sweet fragrance that is pleasing to God in all that we say and do as we continue on this journey. This is turn will permeate and filter into our natural walk and others will not only see but be attracted to us whether they are who are saved and among those who are perishing because we are the aroma of Christ to God among them. Like bees to a flower, we can and will attract others to Christ!

Until the morning, be blessed,

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23

Some time ago, I caught the end of a program and what I heard was, "your mountain knows your voice." The statement alone hit me like a ton of bricks and it sent my mind in so many directions. Not to mention, I felt like screaming, jumping, and shouting just at the thought of my mountains actually knowing my voice. Initially, I thought if I had only been able to hear this man’s entire thought process on the subject and then I realized that perhaps it was all the Lord wanted me to hear and He would work out the rest in me.

We all have mountains, obstacles, or hindrances in our life that we need to overcome and immediately, this scripture came to mind. I've always loved its content and the comfort it brings, especially during those times when I remember that Jesus said that all I need to do is speak to the mountain in my life. However, it has never been as powerful as it was that day and it spoke volumes to my spirit as if I had heard it for the first time. This confirms once again that the scriptures are yet alive and they speak to every situation and sometimes differently, depending on the circumstances.

This was such an eye-opener for me; the thought of a mountain removing itself at the very sound of my voice and from my command. As I continued to meditate on it, my thought was, if it's my mountain, why wouldn't it know my voice? Isn't this what Jesus was trying to convey here? He says, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be taken up and thrown into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.” Powerful right? However, there is a condition to the mountain actually heeding to your voice; there cannot be any doubt and you must believe in what you have said and then you can have what you say! He's given us power to speak to our mountains.

Do you have that kind of faith, that kind of mustard seed faith which says if you speak it, you can have it? We are not talking about the size of the mountain because He doesn't care about the size of the mountain, just the size of your faith. A small amount of faith is all that's needed in order to move those mountains. Get this phrase down in your spirit "my mountain knows my voice!"  And then go ahead and speak to that mountain today!

Until the morning, be blessed,
Cynde
